Safe Laser Technology

The core concept behind Safe Laser technology is to transform the laser’s parallel, eye-hazardous beam into a completely eye-safe light using a specially designed diffuser surface.

Thanks to this innovative optical system, these special “soft lasers” can now be used safely at home without the need for protective eyewear.

The Safe Laser

Safe Laser devices use a unique laser light source that, like traditional lasers, emits polarized, coherent, and monochromatic light. However, unlike conventional lasers, the beam is non-parallel and cannot be optically focused to a single point. This patented innovation is what makes it a “Safe Laser”.

Laser-related eye injuries occur when parallel beams are focused by the eye’s lens into a tiny spot on the retina, resulting in dangerously high power density.
Standard lasers, even from a distance, can reach the eye and be focused by the lens — potentially causing damage.

The optics of the Safe Laser include a lens system that scatters the laser beam.

This is followed by a secondary (or even tertiary) diffuser surface, which ensures that light cannot be focused to a single point by the eye’s lens. As a result, the beam is spread over a large surface, eliminating harmful power densities at the focal plane.

Because the light exits from a relatively large surface with wide divergence, the eye is unable to focus it to a pinpoint, making the Safe Laser harmless to the retina and optic nerve.

Safety Classification of Safe Laser Devices

Safe Laser devices belong to Class 1 and Class 2 laser safety categories.

Protective goggles are not required,

but standard safety precautions for Class 1 and Class 2 lasers must still be followed.
