The Safe Laser® 580 Duo device emits two types of laser light:
The infrared light (808 nm) is barely visible to the human eye, so when the device is turned on, primarily the blue laser light is visible.

Class 1 laser device
808nm (infrared) + 450nm (blue)
Battery-powered operation

The 450 nm blue laser light exerts its biological effects primarily within the top 0.5 cm of tissue, making it especially effective in treating superficial skin and mucosal conditions.
When directed into the nasal cavity, it penetrates the thin nasal mucosa and the dense capillary network, reaching the hemoglobin, which plays a key role in oxygen and nutrient transport. In dogs and cats, this same effect can be achieved by applying the laser to the skin over the jugular groove.
The 808 nm infrared laser light is absorbed in deeper tissue layers, with biological effects measurable up to 8–10 cm deep.
It is highly effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, where its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties accelerate the healing of muscles, tendons, and joints.
With higher energy doses, it can also support the regeneration of cartilage surfaces and tissue.
Clinical experience shows that infrared light is more effective for pain relief than blue light.
The SL580 Duo device, when used with the appropriate accessories, is also suitable for treating conditions affecting the nasal mucosa, such as upper respiratory tract inflammation.

Injuries
Conditions Caused by Overuse
Degenerative conditions
Musculoskeletal diseases may affect various parts of the body and multiple joints.
Soft laser therapy shortens the healing time of traumatic and sports injuries.
When applied before surgery, it helps hematomas and edema absorb more quickly, making the surgical area more accessible and reducing pain.
After surgery, using the laser once or twice daily supports faster recovery.
Promotes the regeneration of normal tissue in cases of skin abrasions, scrapes, and post-operative wounds; also supports the healing of hard-to-heal wounds and ulcers.

The Safe Laser 580 Duo should be applied in direct contact with the painful or injured area and held in place for the recommended duration, then moved to the next point if needed.
Multiple points can be treated consecutively, depending on the size of the affected area. In general, pressure-sensitive points should be targeted.
For maximum safety, only turn the laser on after placing it on the skin to avoid accidental eye exposure. At the end of the treatment, turn off the device before lifting it from the skin.
To reach tissue layers deeper than 8 cm, gently press the laser head into the tissue during treatment.
If direct contact is not possible (e.g. due to an open wound), hold the laser as close as possible to the skin (maximum 0.5 cm). In this case, increase the treatment time by 1 minute per point to ensure the body receives the necessary amount of therapeutic energy.
Different conditions and diseases require varying amounts of energy (Joules) to achieve effective healing. Higher energy delivery can be ensured by increasing the irradiation time.
4–5 Joules of energy = minimum 2–2.5 minutes of irradiation:
Strains, bruises, muscle spasms, improving microcirculation, mild musculoskeletal injuries, acute and chronic inflammation, dental and oral conditions, skin problems
15 Joules of energy = 3 minutes of irradiation:
Pain relief, more severe musculoskeletal conditions.
25 Joules of energy = 5 minutes of irradiation:
Cartilage regeneration, treatment of musculoskeletal injuries located in deeper tissue layers, ligament, muscle and tendon fiber tears, bone fractures
(initially even 2 times a day if needed).
With optical fiber: 4–8 Joules of energy = 15–30 seconds of irradiation
With nasal applicator: 4 Joules of energy = 3 minutes of irradiation
The frequency of treatments depends on the duration of the condition.
Acute conditions (Recent onset) or post-surgical cases, apply laser therapy daily for 1–2 weeks, then reduce to three times per week until symptoms resolve. Improvement is often noticeable after the first treatment or within one day.
Chronic conditions (Lasting for more than 6–8 weeks):
Treat less frequently. Use the laser device three times per week until symptoms disappear or significantly improve.
Recovery from chronic conditions takes longer—ranging from days to weeks or even months.
After the first treatments, mild tingling may occur or, in painful conditions, pain may temporarily increase. This is a normal therapeutic response and a sign that the body is reacting to the treatment.
With continued therapy, pain intensity decreases steadily and typically disappears after 3–4 sessions, followed by noticeable improvement.
If the painful joint does not improve or worsen, you may be using too low a dose – increase the irradiation time by 2–3 minutes.
If pain worsens and becomes prolonged this may indicate over-treatment. While over-treatment does not cause permanent damage, it can temporarily intensify symptoms.
In this case skip a few treatments and then continue therapy with a reduced dose (shorter duration or fewer sessions)
A common reason for temporary discomfort is the sudden activation of microcirculation in stagnant tissue areas. This can flush out accumulated waste products, occasionally causing nausea, fatigue, or general malaise—especially when large areas are treated with high doses.
If pain persists even after several weeks of increased dosing, it may be a sign that the pain is referred from another area, and not originating from the treatment site.
In such cases, identifying the true source of the pain may require trigger point therapy.
More frequent or longer treatments do not necessarily speed up healing, as there is a biological limit beyond which cells cannot be further stimulated by irradiation.
For muscles: Palpate the muscles thoroughly and treat the pressure-sensitive points.
For joints: Treatment is generally applied along the joint line.
By flexing the limbs, the joint can be “opened,” allowing the laser light to reach deeper inside the joint.
Also, palpate the muscles that move the joint and treat their sensitive points.
For tendons: Treat at the tendon attachment points, the muscle–tendon junction, and any pressure-sensitive areas.
The therapy can still be effective even if the treatment points are not precisely targeted, as the Safe Laser Duo illuminates a wide area.
