Comparison of Phototherapy Medical Devices

Laser light has significantly more physiological benefits compared to polarized light lamps because it is not only polarized (vibrating in a single plane), but also monochromatic (single-wavelength) and coherent (uniform wave properties). These three characteristics are essential for the light to exert its beneficial effects not only on the surface of the skin but also in the deeper tissue layers.

Monochromatic lasers emit 100% of their power at physiologically important wavelengths. For example, in the 660–665 nm range, this can be up to 1,000 times more powerful than polarized light lamps, resulting in significantly faster healing. [62]

Coherent laser light, with its in-phase wave oscillations and intensity modulations on the treated surface, can trigger essential biological processes at the cellular level. The coherence of laser light is preserved as it penetrates tissue and plays a crucial role in treating deeper structures (e.g. in musculoskeletal conditions). [64]

Studies have shown that wounds treated with laser light healed 20% faster than those illuminated with regular polarized light lamps. Moreover, ulcerative wounds that did not heal under conventional polarized light therapy responded positively and healed after laser treatments. [1, 21, 63]

An additional advantage of Safe Laser devices over polarized light lamps is that they can also be used for intra-nasal treatments, making them effective for treating conditions accessible through the nasal cavity.
